Many maintenance professionals have a limited a view of oil analysis, seeing it only as a way to determine when an oil change is necessary, or to give an alert when a machine component is failing. While these are certainly valid uses for oil analysis, this practice leaves out the most important benefits. Oil analysis should be used primarily to measure the effectiveness of a precision lubrication program. The immediate goals of a precision lubrication program are to ensure that the correct lubricant is installed in each machine, and that the oil is healthy and suitably free of contaminants. Oil analysis can easily be used to identify and quantify each of these items, providing a perfect set of metrics by which to gauge effectiveness for the entire lubrication program.

In this webinar, participants will be introduced to the follow concepts:

  • Oil analysis as a tool to measure lubrication effectiveness
  • Strategies for establishing optimum sampling frequencies
  • Data interpretation and management
  • Metrics for measuring lubrication program success
