A Rotor Influence Check (RIC) provides a three-phase graphic plot of inductance or impedance. A test signal applied to the stator reacts to the incremental stepping of the rotor and its magnet influence. It is a great test when a motor cannot be run at load for monitoring with dynamic testing and vibration analysis. A RIC can be difficult to understand, especially if the basic theory is not understood or the proper testing procedures are not followed. This webinar thoroughly explains the theory, analysis, and procedures necessary for successful testing.
