Infrared camera technology is changing rapidly and so are the potential applications. A wide variety of infrared cameras including; personal, entry level, mid and high level, mid and high-performance handled models will be briefly described. Also, specialty infrared cameras operating in different wavelengths allowing for filtering and/or special processing allowing for unique applications will be discussed. Infrared is truly a diverse technology but it’s not without some limitations or challenges. Examples of the more typical applications electrical, mechanical and buildings will be reviewed. Then, less common applications will be then be examined such as; gas detection, nondestructive testing, continuous monitoring, drones.
