Condition based maintenance strategies are replacing the antiquated, dangerous and costly time-based, open-panel electrical inspections. Companies are looking at utilizing the benefits of condition based maintenance strategies in their equipment reliability programs to increase safety, reduce maintenance induced failures and the number of outages caused through human error. Condition based maintenance programs are designed to begin with basic data collection, trend analysis, problem diagnosis, repair procedures and re-commissioning the equipment. Breaking down the maintenance tasks and adopting the latest devices and solutions enables companies to perform inspections on critical, energized electrical assets frequently to collect and trend data to determine where a fault or failure may occur.
