Selection and management of electronic parts require gathering and analyzing information regarding the part. The information requirement goes beyond just functionality and package type. There is a need to gather information on the manufacturers’ practices, materials, changes in the parts over time, supply chain, reports on problems, alternative parts for consideration, packaging material, and other factors. Contrary to common belief, information on the commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts is available from many sources. However, these sources that often go unexplored.
In this Webinar, Dr. Das will provide a primer on various information sources such as qualification reports, product change notifications, industry standards, regulations, and other sources. The nature of the available information and how to use them for engineering decision making will be discussed. The example application areas will include reliability assessment, part storage condition determination, counterfeit part avoidance and detection, and regulatory compliance.
